The Good Side About Presidential Elections
Just something out of the ordinary from my usual topics…
The Presidential elections is the time when aspiring leaders compete against each other for the most coveted positions in public office, ‘most coveted’ in the context of political and social POWER, not completely public service. Makes me wonder how many of these people actually want to make the country better.
Significantly, as I was on my way to work this morning, the heavy traffic along Gil Puyat Ave. allowed a rescue van to parade along the road with its irritatingly noisy siren and stop next to us. The van had “A Project of Mayor” so and so written on its car doors. It made me wonder how many of these things actually roamed the city when they should definitely be roaming all over the calamity-stricken areas, the evacuation centers, and other places where more people are in need of rescuing.
It is quite a known fact that goodwill and generosity rules during the election campaign period. Programs here and there are implemented faster, feeding programs, sponsored housing, medical missions, and the list goes on. “All for my countrymen” or so these electoral candidates say, but it doesn’t take a genius to know that it’s really “if you want more of this, vote for us.”
